Conferences and Other Items of Note

We had Parent Teacher Conferences for Big Sprout last night. I am happy to report that her teacher feels she is a wonderful kid to have in class. He says she is respectful and polite, and she is really smart.

*glowing with Mommy Pride*

Of course, she wouldn't be any of those things if she weren't MY child, so I can take all the credit. Hehe.

In other news, I finally broke down and turned on the furnace. I had been trying to hold out, because it really isn't THAT cold....but really, it is. When I left work this morning at 8am, the temp was still below 30degF. I don't have the plastic up on our drafty old house windows, yet, but that project will be taken care of very soon. I am also going to plastic over one set of patio doors and hang quilts (or something) in front of the other set for further insulation this year. Last year we lost a LOT of heat out of the kitchen because the entire south wall is glass. Nice in the summer to be able to look outside, and lots of natural light, but chilly as anything in a MN winter.

I am looking at a long work week coming up. I will be working 9 days in a row before I get my next day off... yuck. But, Xmas is coming, and the extra cash will be nice when we are doing our gift shopping. Of course, I keep telling Mr. Barefoot that I am going to quit my job and stay home, but he is still arguing with me on that one....

Other than that, life is just buzzing along like normal. Leaves are piling up in the yard, winter sweaters are making an appearance again.... the wheel of the year is turning....

Yippee about the smarty!!

I remember that as a child my mother hung a blanket over my windows in the winter. That might have been the start of SAD for me. I hope if you go that route it can be easily taken down when you need a splash of sunlight . . . especially around Feb. or March!!! :)

Nice new bkgd, too. I want a background on my blog!!!

Thanks, Kelli!

I am only planning on covering half of the patio doors in the kitchen (we have two sets), so there will be plenty of light. And the quilts will be easy to remove, since I chose that method so that we could go out and clear the snow from the deck and the kitchen roof. Last year we had "ice dams" build up on the kitchen roof, resulting in water leaking into the house....NOT cool! ;)

Check out Pyzam, and see if their backgrounds are compatible with your bloggy format. They have some really gorgeous ones, and I can never seem to decide on just one!

I can't imagine having snow! Then again, in east TX. we only get a little ice and snow and it is not pretty to drive on.

It is nice to get a great report on Big Sprout and you are right in that it is because of your mothering skills.

Take good care of yourself with nine days of work. That would wear me down.

Enjoy your snow and I hope that you will post some photos of it.
