Welcome to my garden. Come in, take off your shoes, and let me offer you a seat in the shade, a cool drink, and friendly conversation while we enjoy the beauty of the day...
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Fall Weather is Here
I love it, love it, love it when fall rolls around. The cooler temps seem to clear the cobwebs from my brain and energise my tired old body. I want to do things in the fall. I want to go places, and finish up projects. I want to take long walks and enjoy the weather and the colors.
Not that we have any fall color yet, but I know it's coming.
I love the foods that come with fall. The turnips and rutabagas, the potatoes and squash. I love the soups and stews, the casseroles, the absolute abundance of fall. These are foods that say 'comfort' and 'home' to me. Earthy and hearty, they speak of quiet contented evenings spent talking with loved ones or finishing up some needlework. Preferably by a fire, but we don't have a wood stove or a fireplace, so I will just have to imagine that.
I won't even say that the best part of fall is that the kids go back to school, though we definitely go through fewer dishes and things stay clean a bit longer when the littles are off at school.
I love that I need to pull out warmer blankets for the beds, that I wake up snuggled deep under them with my nose frosted and running just a bit from the cool temps in the bedroom. I sleep best when it is a little chilly. I love the warm, fuzzy jammies and wrapping myself in a thick bathrobe.
I love that the mosquitoes all die off, as well as most of the pesty bugs. I love the morning frost that makes the world sparkle.
Mostly, I just love Fall.

Amen to that! I can feel a bit of fall in the air already! We been able to have the doors open all day for the past few, some leaves are starting to change, and more are starting to fall.
You forgot to mention all the yummy cobblers, crumbles, whatever that round out all that comfort food!
Oh me too!! I love those cooler nights that give me an excuse to cuddle a little bit closer to the husband! Our night temps have already dipped into the 40s! A little earlier than usual, but no complaints from me. I sleep better when it's chilly, too.
And I am SO with you on those winter foods! AS a matter of fact, on a cool day last week, the Husband requested stew for dinner. yum!
Happy September! :o)
I feel like since we moved to Texas I can only dream of the fall the beautiful colors and the cooler temps. Everytime I open my closet I see my old winter boots and I think maybe someday they will be on my feet again. I miss driving down a winding road and watching the whirl of colorful leaves behind my car. I used to go out early and start my car to warm it up, now here I start my car early to turn the air on. It is so hot here and everything is brown and dead. The grass cruntches under your feet. I miss Minnesota and the cooler weather.
Jess-
Miss you!
I love fall too. It's always kinda nice when the lawn mowing and garden is done and I get some more free time back again (even though the days are shorter and I can't spend as much time outside).
