And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

The Big Reveal (Very Picture-Heavy, So Dial-Up Users Beware)

You have all heard me griping and moaning about all the work I have been doing over the past 10 days or so. Now is the time when you get to really see what all the griping has been about.

Mr. Barefoot came home and LOVED it. He didn't bring cheesecake, but he did bring home-made gumbo, Pie in the Sky pizza, and lasagna. Thank you Gramma Jeannie for all the goodies!

I don't have a before picture for this area between our two driveways. Just imagine that the whole area was completely full of hosta and Lily of the Valley. As in, you couldn't see any dirt at all, full.

This is our South yard (just off the deck) before:

This is the same area (visible from the living room, dining room, and kitchen) after I got done with it....I am still planning some plant additions and am fussing with ideas for the 'bare' area, but for now it is done:

Behind the garage before:

And after:

An island bed in the front yard before:

The same bed after:

Our side yard, just a narrow strip between the garage and house before:

And after:

And the North side of the house...[to the right is the gate leading to above pathway, and further to the right (if you were turning in a circle) would be behind the garage] before:

And after:

Bless my soul! It has been a lot of work, but I am so happy with the results. The best part? Now Mr. Barefoot trusts me a bit more with my 'fix-it-up' projects in the yard. He solemnly promised to stop cringing every time I said I wanted to do something in the yard, since this all turned out so well.

I am off to take a well-deserved nap!

OMG! You did such a professional looking job! (Not that I doubted you at all!)

My back hurts in sympathy, so I will find some cheesecake and eat it for you!!

Isn't it interesting how a little bit of green and vibrant colors can change a person's outlook? You've brought life to your yard!

That is 100% awesome!

What a transformation and that narrow strip between the garage and the house is a work of art.

I can just imagine you there, in the sun on one of those chairs in the South Yard with a glass of chilled white wine.

Absolutely great! I haven't checked your blog for a while and am really glad I finally did. Want to come over with your hubby sometime when he has rehearsal? I could really use your suggestions on my own yard and your pictures show me that you have very good taste. We can catch up on things, too.

OHMIGOSH Barefoot -- it all looks so gorgeous! Way to go! I'm very impressed and inspired to get my own front garden makeover started now.
You'll have to show us more pictures later in the summer once all the plants have grown a bit more and start blooming.
