I am both excited and nervous about this year's gardening efforts. The seed catalogs are rolling in, and I am consumed by garden lust for all the beautiful veggies and flowers contained in those glossy pages.
There is a problem, though.
I never got that idiot shed moved, and now that we have piles of snow everywhere the chance of it getting done before spring is non-existent. I still don't have my raised beds built (due to not moving the idiot shed), so that will have to be done before any planting can be done as well. And Mr. Barefoot informed me that he wants to go to California to visit family in June. JUNE! That is the beginning of the hardcore gardening season here in MN. He wants me to be away for 10 days in JUNE?!
GAH!
I still have my garden over at the folks' place, and Dad says I can use that this year if I would like. I really appreciate the offer, but I am concerned that with my garden 30 minutes away I won't take care of it as well as I would like. On the other hand, I REALLY want to increase my canning and freezing of produce this year. Nothing tastes better than home grown goodness brought to your table. Truly.
Ugh.
I will have to do some serious thinking about this whole garden mess over the next two nights while I am at work. I am afraid I will HAVE to do some gardening at the folks' place, and then supplement with what I can get going here at Barefoot Manor.
Hmmmm...

I was planning on a garden, but we are moving in Jan. and I don't know how the soil is at the new place or if I will have the time to get it ready bc of the move.
Happy New Year!
I Hope you're able to work out at least a moderate garden at your new place this year. Perhaps you can coax one of your neighbour's into weeding and watering for you in exchange for some produce and canned goods when it comes available???? Best of luck!!!
