And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Let's Try This Again

About 5 years ago, I started a counted cross stitch pattern from Dimensions called Innocent Angel. It is supposed to look like this:

Unfortunately, I got about 1/4 of the way done, only to realize that I had made a major mistake way back where I started. There was no way to fix it except to start all over from the beginning. So today I did. I went from this....

...to this.

It's a little frustrating.

Oh no!!! I guess I don't see what you'd done wrong as compared to the pic of what it's supposed to be. Sorry you had to start all over!!!! I hope it goes much more quickly this time, and without mistake.

Oh, and left another reply (at my blog) to your comment. It's not your "foot-in-mouth" syndrome, it's mine. As I said in my comment again, it's the irony of that song, and my personal history with it that was striking me as funny, not your comment, really. Just your comment made me stop & reminisce, and that's not always the best of things for a weirdly-wired brain like mine.

What I did wrong was hard to explain. See where the trim on her over-dress makes a V up by her waist? I made that a couple of stitches too far apart. I thought I could just fill it in, but when I got to the ruffles at the bottom I just wasn't smart enough to figure out how to make it look right.

As for my comment on your blog, I actually cringed after I hit publish because all of a sudden I remembered all the love-birds that used that song to get all emotional. Only then did I realize that it probably sounded a little wierd. Don't worry about it, all is good.

Ok. I'll have to take your word for it because I still can't see where you went wrong. Then again, maybe that's part of the reason I've never done well with cross-stitch & embroidery. LOL

ROFL Actually, I'm totally glad I didn't end up with the guy I used to think of in regards to that song. He was a total putz who only used me as flirting practice. (And a couple of the other girls in our youth group - he was quite good at leaving heaps of sobbing girls behind him, wherever he went.) I'm just sorry I wasted 6 months of my life fawning after that jerk. *wink* Now when I think of that song, I do try to think about how pretty I find it, and do prefer to just look at the moon (if it's clear enough) and wonder about the other people in this world (in general) who might be looking at the same moon, and wonder what their lives may be like.

Having to start over after getting that far really would be traumatizing!

(found your blog, via a long winding meander through links on various people's eco-friendly blogs, oddly enough)

I hope you stick with it though, because it looks like you're doing a really nice job stitching :)

Thanks, Deb, and welcome!

I have been pretty traumatized by the whole thing, but I am determined to finish this durned thing. I promised myself I wouldn't buy anymore craft projects until this is done, so I have to get crackin'!

I had the Victorian Lady all done except for the finishing stitches. I HATE the finishing stitches. After 10 years, three moves and a small mildewed patch, I finally threw it out. Since then, I have vowed to do ANYTHING except cross stitch when the urge to be crafty hits. Who knows, maybe I've just saved myself from going blind while picking out stitches. :)
