Just Little Sprout And Me

Mr. Barefoot is up north playing a gig.

Big Sprout is out desperately trying to kill Bambi (good luck, you wonderful kid!)

That leaves me with Little Sprout as my only company. Luckily, I worked today. Does that sound bad? What I meant was: I worked today, so Little Sprout visited with my folks, went to the park, played outside with Grandpa, and generally ran herself into exhaustion before I picked her up.

What a wonderful thing.

On the way home, Little Sprout informed me that she is a "Werewolf-Monkey". She turns into a monkey at night when "the owls are howling". And the sound she makes is:

AAAAoooooooooohhhhh-ee-ee-oo-oo, aaaaaOOOOOOOOOOH-ee-ee-oo-oo.

Well, how do you spell a wolf howl followed by monkey sounds, anyway?

She requested salad for supper (bless her little heart), so we stopped at the grocery store on the way home. She also talked me into carrots, and did her best to convince me we needed oranges, and tomatoes, and apples, and celery, and whatever-those-things-are-right-there-no-right-THERE-mommy-what-are-beets-I-wanna-try-them-can-we-get-some-PLEEEEEEAAAAAAASE!

We snuggled up for Family Movie Night, deciding that it was a "Beauty and the Beast" kinda night. The poor child has seen the movie about 700 times, and she still gets scared when the wolves attack, every time Beast yells/growls, and whenever Gaston gets mean. And she still cries every time Beast "dies". Every. Single. Time.

ME: "Kiddo, you' ve seen this before. You know he isn't gonna STAY dead."

LITTLE SPROUT: "But, Mommy, what if this time is DIFFERENT?!"

Oh, child, how can I argue with that?
