Garden Frustration

UGH!

Cool, wet spring during which not much could be planted in wrist deep mud.

A short period of nice days followed by record setting heat and humidity (not to mention monster mosquitos)

Now today it's downright chilly.

And something pulled up my carrot seed tapes, just when they were all germinating and I was beginning to believe that this was to be the first year I would have pretty rows of carrots! Every single sprout is completely dried out and dead.

The other seed tapes I made of rutabaga, turnip, and parsnip have been messed with, too. I am guessing birds pulled them up and the wind dried them out.

My tomatoes, peppers, and summer squashes have completely stalled out in this cooler weather. I am counting my blessings that they aren't dead yet.

*sigh*

So I try again tomorrow. There is still time, as carrots can handle the cooler temps in the fall. So can most of the others. Oh, the optimism of gardeners!

~...and that's all I have to say about that...~

I feel your pain. I am looking at knee high grass in about six of my garden beds and seriously thinking about downsizing for a year. Except I have all these tomato plants that need a home...

Each day I count my tiny minature cucumbers.

Some have died. I cross my fingers.

I think this is going to be a challenging year for every gardener! The weather across the country is schizo!

Some of my tomato plant drown in the April storms and all but 2 cucumber plants washed away. With unbroken heat for 2 weeks, I am running around with the hose everyday wondering if it is worth it!

If you want, I have way more snow peas than I can eat. I just wish they could be mailed without wilting!

Deb- isn't it funny how we gardeners go through that "I'm gonna downsize this year" about every other year, but never manage to do so?

Frugal - I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Lisa - That's so sweet! Snow peas are yummy, but they probably wouldn't be after a couple days in the mail ;)

It seems everyone is having trouble with their gardens this year... TEOTWAWKI is on it's way, folks, hold on to your hats! ;)
