And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

So Much Going On!

Well, I got the potatoes in today. Onions are doing quite well, considering they spent a MN winter outside in the dirt. Mom has requested that we grow sweet potatoes. Do they even grow in MN??? Gotta remember to Google how to grow them babies.

Big Sprout is off with Uncle Wolfie. They are going to spend the night at his nephew's farm, help with chores in the morning, and spend the day at a gun show.

Mr. Barefoot hit a deer on Wed after picking Big Sprout up from church. It was small, but managed to do some significant damage to the truck. Big Sprout was very shaken up after watching it die in the ditch, but said that she still wants to be a hunter, because she will be a really good one who never lets the animals suffer.

GOLLY, I love that child!

I spent the afternoon mowing the massive piles of leaves in the yard and then dumping them in the compost bins. It is going to take FOREVER for those stinking things to break down, but I can't bring myself to throw them away. That just seems so wrong. I have now gotten the piles down to the (almost) fully composted material at the bottom. I will have to enlist some help from someone with a strong back (hey, Bro, you reading this?) to get it shovelled out and into either flower beds or the veggie beds.

Sunday the kids will go with my folks to the circus. I am so looking forward to a non-working day without the kids!!!!!! Household chores, here I come!!!!

Anywho.... I don't have much special to say. I am just pluggin' along around here....

Sorry about the car. What a bummer ... but you did, at least, get some free meat out of the deal?

Sadly, no, we didn't get the meat. Like I said, it was a little one, and Mr. Barefoot hit it pretty square on the side, destroying the meat on that side. Then it lay in the ditch too long on a warm evening before the cop came to tag it, and we were worried about the meat turning.

I really think that the worst part of the whole disaster was that this beautiful animal's death was wasted. Ugh...
