And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

I Need To Go Back To Bed

Last night was a rough one. The dreams I had were just insane, resulting in my waking up every hour or so with a sense of "WTF?!"

Then, as sunlight streamed through my windows this morning, I opened my eyes to see that the clock was showing 8am. I jumped out of bed with my heart pounding and that sinking feeling you get in your gut when you realise that you messed something up. I had missed getting Big Sprout and her friend to choir practice this morning! I wasn't so worried about Big Sprout missing choir, because if she didn't have the smarts to wake my butt up so we could go that was her own fault.

I was more worried about her friend. She misses the bus every Tuesday morning to be home when we pick her up for choir (which is before school, don't ask me why). I felt terrible. Had she been able to get to school? Was she sitting at home in tears because we hadn't come to get her? Oh, gosh....

So I ran downstairs, hoping against hope that somehow Mr. Barefoot had forgotten to change the clock in the bedroom for daylight savings. I started searching for my phone, so that I could call Big Sprout's friend and apologise (and pick her up if need be).

I must have looked a fright, eyes wide and wild and hair standing on end from all the tossing and turning I did last night. I was cussing Big Sprout for not waking me, and Mr. Barefoot for not setting the alarm. Then I cussed myself - a LOT - for being an idiot and a bad mom for not being more responsible and letting down two 10 yr olds.

Then it hit me. Yeah, those of you who have been reading this carefully already know what realisation hit me square between the eyes...

Today is Monday. Choir is on Tuesday. No panic needed.

Ugh...I am crawling back into bed to hide from the world for the rest of the day. Maybe by tomorrow my head will be back on straight.

Must have been one of those nights. I had some crazy dreams too. One woke me up in such a panic that I had to get up and walk around for a few minutes just to calm down. I've never had that happen before. The funny thing is in the light of day, I want to find out how the dream ends. The memory of it plays more like an action movie than reason for a panic attack...
