And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Rain, Rain

We have been having cooler than usual weather here in MN. Not so much rain, really, just cooler than I am used to.

On the one hand, I really like the cooler temps. I don't have A/C, so hot sticky summers are tough on me.

On the other hand, this weather is doing terrible things to my veggie garden. Well, I suppose that isn't really true. The brassicas, which like cooler weather anyway, are doing fine. But my beans are just starting to come in and I can't pick because they are soaking wet! So now I am torn....do I pick them anyway and risk 'rust' on them? or do I wait until they dry out a bit, and risk losing a later harvest because the beans have gone too long?

There are plenty of tomatoes on the plants, but without sun and heat they won't ripen.

Weeds are running rampant in my flower beds. I know I need to get out there and weed them, but that task always seems to get put off until 'tomorrow'. Unfortunately, the days fly by so quickly that 'tomorrow' is here and gone before I even have time to turn around.

Hmmm....d'ya think Mr. Barefoot would let me take a year or so off work to get caught up?

Whaddaya think, hon? Can I be jobless for a while?

There, it's cooler than normal. Here, it's warmer than normal. Wanna trade?

Ha! Not to rain on your dream parade, but being jobless doesn't make a difference in the weeding dept!! I'm home 24/7, and my poor garden is drowning in weeds. Choked out the peas (after they were already damaged from something nibbling on them), and they are soon over taking the onion row. sigh... This is definetely not my best garden.

It's been cooler than usual here, too. No complaints from me.
