And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

It's Here!

The Holiday season is finally here, and I started out rarin' to go. I went out to the garage and hauled in my tons of decorations and began putting up the tree in the living room. There was a moment of fear when I realised that the new tree might be too big for the room, but we managed to squeeze everything in. Then I started with the ornaments. The theme for the living room is to be green, gold, and red. So I sorted out all the appropriate ornaments, and got going.

It looks crappy. Seriously crappy.

After much staring with my head tilted off to the side, my tongue hanging out the side of my mouth, and both perplexity and tears glistening in my eyes I have come to a conclusion....

I need more ornaments. Bigger ones. Sparklier ones. Brighter ones.

It's true, whatever Mr. Barefoot tries to tell you. The ornaments I have are all scaled for a much smaller tree, and they just don't have the impact needed on our new, huge, lush tree.

So I let the Sprouts work on the kitchen tree, which is the "go-nuts-and-throw-everything-on" tree (pics soon). I will be picking up some bigger, splashier ornaments over the weekend on my way home from work, and hopefully that will fix my tree problem.

We are hosting our first winter holiday celebration for the family on the 14th, so I have a lot of work to do before then....

Whoa! I like the new blog design... made (both) eyes fly open when the page loaded!!

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your decorations. I am not putting up a tree this year. It's just Studly and I, so I am using the energy saved to work outside, like getting in more firewood and breaking up beaver dams!

BTW, I can't read the red lettering very well, but it's probably just me in the early morning!

Aww, Lisa! You gotta put up at least a little tree. Get one of those $10 bitsy ones that fit on your table and throw some tinsel at it.... you'll feel more in the spirit, I promise.

It the green a little better? I knew that the red was not so great, but all this green didn't seem right either, and I don't really like the white page background....it just seems so WHITE. Anyway, hope this one is a little better.

Have fun decorating! I always start really slow--just Christmas towels and place mats for now. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures--hopefully they will inspire me!
