And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Misc. Doings

Well, to start us off...we didn't get the house we had put an offer on. The bank didn't even bother to contact us. We heard there was a moving van out front, so I drove by a couple of days later to check it out. Sure enough, something was definitely going on. We called our realtor, and she found out that it had been sold.

I have mixed feelings about it. We really liked the house, but I also know that it isn't the only house that will be out there. I keep telling myself that we will find something better.....

Little Sprout is being a pill lately. I think the changes in the weather (sunny and warm one day, blustery and cold the next) are getting to her. She spent quite a bit of time outside today (I am not feeling well, so my Dad kept her for a few hours) and seems much happier.

Big Sprout is doing Standardized Testing today and tomorrow at school. Yuck. I hate those things, even though she consistently does very well on them. They just seem wrong somehow.

It is really hard, here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, to really think of water as a resource that needs conserving. Still, I have been making the effort to change the way I am thinking. My most recent discovery is how little water it actually takes to get clean on a daily basis. I am used to showers every day just to be clean, long hot showers for sore muscles, hot bubble baths for relaxation. So to find that I can really get clean (excluding hair washing, cuz long hair REALLY sucks up water) with only about 3 cups of water a day. That is for tooth brushing and shaving my legs and everything.

Whooda thunk?

Not that I am going to restrict myself to that every day, but it is nice to know how little I really NEED. It kind of elevates a regular shower from a necessity to a real luxury.

I also just found out today that I am going to be an Auntie. (No, Mom, it's not Bro. Don't have a heart attack quite yet) Mr. Barefoot's nephew went and knocked up his girlfriend. I am not sure if we are happy or not, seeing as the couple in question broke up last week before they knew they were expecting. I figure as long as I am not the one who is pregnant, then everything is fine and I can be happy. Right?

Well, that about sums up life here in the Barefoot House. Unless, of course, you want to listen to me whine about work. But that gets a little repetitive, I think.

Have a great one, all!

I have reduced my showers to every other day. By the end of the second day, my hair starts to look oily and that's my limit. Hubby takes Navy showers still, after 12 years in the Navy, it's a hard habit to break. He gets after me to take shorter showers, but I have long hair too! I tell him he should be happy I don't shower everyday any more, so there! LOL

Sorry you didn't get the house. Maybe it was meant to be and another, more perfect house will come along! Fingers crossed!

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get the house you wanted. It took us several months to find and close on our house ... it was NOT our first choice, and we didn't even really want to live right here, but it's worked out to be really fantastic - and I learned to trust the fates.

Also sorry to hear that you didn't get the house, but you've got a good attitude about it!!! I hope the next one appears to have been built with y'all in mind, and that the purchasing goes through without any hitches.

I'm yet another with long hair that must be washed very regularly. I can go every other day, if I'm not leaving the house. But, if I'm going out & about, it's gotta be every day that I wash my hair. Otherwise it looks like it's been a week since it's been washed, it's that greasy. What I have been wanting (but haven't had the nerve) to try, is "no poo". IE: scrub the scalp with baking soda & water, then rinse with ACV & water. But, those who've done this say it takes about 2 weeks before the hair stops looking greasy from the adjustments the body chemistry goes through. I don't have 2 weeks to spare that I can look like I don't bathe regularly. So, still showering every night with lots of shampoo & conditioner.

Glad to hear it's not your bro that's pregnant, and I hope that your hubby's bro & girlfriend handle their pregnancy responsibly, whether or not it results in them staying together.

Oh, and I hope LS stops being a pill. *wink*

Things work out the way they are supposed too. I know that's crappy advice, but sometimes it's more true that we care to accept. The house meant to be yours will eventually cross your path and you will ALL be happier for it. :) Hugs!

BTW - I have missed blogging my boring life and so I have returned but under a different address - So come by! Please? Miss ya!

There will be a house that is for you. It just has to find you.

As a teacher, I know standardized tests are WAY past wrong.

It takes parents to get rid of them.
