And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Fall Fun

I have not slept in 24 hours, but it is so worth it! Today after arriving home from work I threw a roast in the crock pot with potatoes and carrots. I got both DD and DH up and moving and we walked the block over to my folks' house. They raked all the leaves in the yard into a big pile and everyone jumped in to play, wrestle and have "leaf-fights". The up side of being pregnant is I did not have to rake. The down side is I was forbidden to roll on the ground to be jumped on and mauled by parents, hubby, and child. I got the job of picture taker. It was so fun to watch them! While they were all still raking, my dad caught DD using her rake to pull leaves off the trees. He gave her a little guff over it, but she just giggled and said "the more the merrier!".

After everyone exhausted themselves, we sat and had a really fun visit. The kind we haven't had in a few weeks due to hectic schedules.

We just got home a little bit ago, and it was so nice to walk into the apt and smell that roast cooking merrily away. I was so proud that I had done that for my family. I know it is a small thing, but I feel like a better wife and mom when I cook "real" meals for my family. I really love sitting at the table all together as we eat. We haven't always done this, and I am finding it is so much more satisfying to sit down with my family at a table and share a meal and conversation. Ahh, I am just really satisfied with life right now...

It's funny how a supper can do that to a person- make them feel satisfied. We may not have many rituals that we stick to, but this is one and it's 'our' time and I would miss it if we didn't.

I know what you mean....This was a special time when I was a child and for the first few years after DD was born. Then life with teens got way out of hand, and we kind of drifted away from it. I didn't realize how important these small things are until I started to put them back into my life. Now I am looking back at life before the teens and trying to remember what other things I have been missing.....
