And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Wasting These Beautiful Fall Days

It's gorgeous outside, and I am sitting here in front of the 'puter instead of out there enjoying it. The reason is actually better than it sounds: I am saving my energy.

I got called into work last night. Another staff quit without giving any notice, and we are all scrambling to cover her hours. That means that I am running on very little sleep (like that is anything new, huh?) and have a loooong way to go before I can really rest again.

I know that if I go outside with Little Sprout, I will decide that pulling "just the weeds in this bed" won't be too much work, and then the bed next to it will need a bit of attention. Before I know it, it will be long past nap time, and I will have just enough time to clean up before heading out again this evening.

But I would really like to be out there. I have the window open, and am watching the chickadees dart down out of the trees to the birdbath and back. Mighty Cat is begging for attention. Little Sprout is steadily working her way through everything edible in the house (darn growth spurt! Now I will have to go shopping AGAIN!). The sun is shining, and it smells of autumn.

And I am missing it.

If anyone wants to gift me huge amounts of money so I can stay home and play in my garden, I really wouldn't mind.....

I'll be sending you some money as soon as I win the lottery!

What?!? You mean you can't win if you don't play?? Who made up those rules??

Oh well, guess we'll just have to keep working!
