Crafting Insanity

I have been crocheting steadily ever since finishing my last cross-stitch pattern, Woodland Enchantress. I have done baby blankets and snowflakes, and basically just putzed around with my hooks and the vast yarn stash I have in the back room.

Now, I am feeling the need to go back to my cross stitch. Silly, when I think about it. I should crochet in the winter months, when my work in progress can sit across my lap and keep me warm, and do needlepoint in the summer, when I don't want anything touching me.

Oh, well.

Anyway. I am having a problem. A big problem.

Anyone who knows me IRL can tell you that, when I get it into my head to do something I am a machine. Nothing stops me, and I have been known to run right over everyone and everything in my way.

But something is in my way that I just can't seem to get around.

I can't find a pattern that fits all my criteria. I am getting frantic. I want something that is more art-y than cartoon-y. I want something that will suit the pieces I have already done. I want something perfect. And nothing is making me happy. I have found some wonderful patterns online, but I don't know that I want to wait for them to be delivered, then for me to be able to go to the store and get the fabric and thread....

*sigh*

I am so hard to please! ;)

When you are ready for a particular project it just grabs you by the throat and won't let go until you get it started. That's normal... at least for people like us!

When I was living in Singapore, I would stock up whenever I got back to the US. I liked the packaged kit that are called Gold Collection or something like that. They were very detailed, more art that craft and took a long time to complete. Hope you find something soon. When I get the bug and can't find what I want... it isn't a pretty picture!

BG - did you ever check out the website I mentioned above? I looked through their pictures and found a lot that look like yours and thought maybe they'd be along the lines of what you're looking for. Just wondering :-)

Anonymous - Actually, I did! I found more kits I wanted than I could afford, actually. Thanks for the heads-up!
