Oh, Poor Little Sprout

Little Sprout usually wakes shortly before Big Sprout has to leave to catch the school bus in the morning. This works out pretty well, as both girls like to cuddle a bit before Big Sprout has to leave.

This morning was no different. When the time came, Big Sprout gave her little sister a big hug and a smacking kiss before running out the door to meet up with the other youngsters at her bus stop. I got Little Sprout her breakfast, and proceeded to meander around the house with my eyes firmly clamped shut and moaning like a B-movie zombie.

I don't like to wake up, what can I say?

Unfortunately, when Big Sprout left this morning, she did not get the front door closed all the way. Little Sprout stood there at the screen door, desperately trying to yell loud enough for "sissy" to hear her. Big Sprout, being across the street and down the block, was clueless to the heartbreak her little sister was experiencing.

I was just about to intervene and catch Big Sprout's attention so that she could at least wave at Little Sprout when the bus came barreling around the corner. It pulled up to the bus stop, blocking Little Sprout's view of her most beloved sister.....and all heck broke loose.

"No, Sissy! Not on Twuck! No Twuck! BAD TWUCK!!! You get 'way from Sissy! NO,NONONONONOOOOOOOo!"

Then the sobs began as the bus pulled away and Little Sprout saw that Big Sprout was no longer standing on the corner.

"Sissy right there, Mommy! No! Oh, Sissyeeeeeee!" She screamed

Oh, the heartbreak of being left behind. So I soothed her pain with Strawberry-Banana yogurt and a big kiss. I put on her favorite Curious George movie. I explained about school and how Little Sprout would be able to go when she gets a little older. Reluctantly, she allowed herself to be calmed.

I think I am going to do my best to get her to sleep in tomorrow morning. I am not looking forward to going through this again....

Awww... Poor little sprout!

How old are the sprouts?

(I just had to comment on this one, so I had hubby help me with word verification... Which is what stops me commenting most times).

Yes, some parts of being a parent are really good. We need those good times to keep us from killing our own young. ;)

Thank you for taking the extra effort to comment! I wish I dared take off the word verification to help you out, but every time I do I end up with spam comments.

To answer your question, Big Sprout is 10 and Little Sprout is 2

Sweet...and LOUD. I love my littles, but I need some industrial earplugs some days! :)

Poor little critter! If sleeping in does help, maybe she could be present when Sissy got OFF the bus... just to see that the twuck didn't eat her!
