I am getting a little scared about where things are going and how quickly they are getting there. I think that my family is in a pretty good position, relatively speaking. We have water, gardens, space, and (most importantly) knowledge. Those of us here at the Barefoot House live close to both my folks and MIL, and Bro lives very close as well. If needed we could all join forces and I think we would be okay. There are many who are not in as good of a situation, though.
Check it out. Lets start a movement. It would be really cool.

You already are a major part of a movement barefoot. The movement for those who realise that other than a roof over their head, clothes to wear and food to share with people they love, little else matters...
It sounds like you have the world in your hands, all your needs that matter met :) you are very blessed...
