Yesterday I had a small portion of Mr. Barefoot's and my family over to the house to celebrate Big Sprout's birthday. Only about 13 extra people, but you really realise how small this apt is when you have a few extra bodies hanging around!
Little Sprout refused to nap and Mr. Barefoot left before it was done to go to rehearsal, but other than that it was a pretty fine time. Big Sprout received many gifts that she really likes, and spent the whole time playing with my cousin (who is only a couple of years older than her). My Mother was the most wonderful Mom in the world, and picked up her Mom and brought her home. It was the first time that Grandma had been to my home, so it was a very special occasion. I am so glad that Mom was willing to pick up Grandma, because I had to work last night and I think the 2 hour round-trip to pick her up and then drop her off again would have done me in.
The best part of the whole thing is that I can check off the Sprouts' birthday parties until October. I don't do anything for the step-evils except set a limit for Mr. Barefoot's spending, so I am off the hook for a good while. Of course, I still have to get through April (and it seems that half of my family was born in April), but my responsibility for throwing parties is now done.
I have been considering booking Big Sprout's next birthday party now and writing it down on the calendar. That way, all I will have to do next year is remember to take the time off of work. There are plenty of things I am sure she would like to do. Maybe we could do pottery painting or something. I know Michael's craft store does birthday parties, and Mom sent me a link ages ago for a party idea (of course that link is now lost in the bowels of my dead computer, but all hope is not lost that those files may be retrieved). Maybe that would take some of the stress out of the whole ordeal for me?
Anyway, that is about the sum of it, so.....

At least you have a nice long rest until the next party. :-)
Funny, it seems like half my relatives were born in November.
I've noticed families tend to do that...
