Buyer's Remorse Before I Even Buy?

I am slightly regretful that I have scheduled an inspection for the house we looked at last week.

I still like the house, I am not saying otherwise. And I am sure that we will be happy there. Still, there are issues.

The main issue is that this is moving a lot quicker than we had expected it to, and we just aren't ready for this. The main issue is that our lease isn't up until the first of July (the Mr. is so good with dates!) and there are several empty units in our building already. If we move out before the lease is up, we still have to pay rent here until the apt is rented or our lease is up.

I suppose every home buyer goes through this. "Is this the right house for us?" "Is there something better for the money out there?" "What if we buy, and then our dream house comes on the market for exactly what we can afford?"

You know, all the second-guessing kind of stuff.

On the other hand, I would hate to lose out on this house just because I am hoping for something better.

The Mr. thinks I am getting all worked up for nothing, but I can't see how. This is such a HUGE thing. I am not upset enough that I am making myself sick or anything, just enough that I don't sleep so good. Since that is pretty normal for me, I figure all is going well. :)

I guess I just need to keep reminding myself that things will be okay. We will get whatever house is right for us when the time is right.

Right?

Here's a tip.

Felicia is such a smart cookie...

You have the right to have it entered into your mortgage and loan application papers that your loan is not to be sold to anyone else and that it will stay with the bank you signed with.

That's right, while everyone we know has not idea where and who's hands their loan belongs to we know right where ours is.

Most banks won't even tell you that you have that right.

Get it in writing. Felicia did and we are sitting pretty at this uncertain time.

Wow, I didn't even know that was an option, and I have been nervous about that exact thing. Thanks so much!

Dude!!! I didn't know that was an option either. Do what Dirk said!!! That's brilliant!

I wish I had such good advice, BG, but I'm afraid I don't. I do wish you the best of luck, though, in your choosing.

Take a deep breath and relax. If you choose to buy this house, it will be probably May before it closes. Which means only two months of rent IF your unit doesn't rent immediately. I know, those months could be harsh, but it's way better than putting a house on the market with NO guarantee when it will sell and when you will stop making payments.

Good luck whatever you decide! As the way more fiscally conservative partner in this marriage, I totally understand how you feel! I myself am harboring resentment over how much he spent on Easter baskets...I know, I'm a control freak!

Things will be okay. Try not to make things more than they are, but buying a house is a big thing that you don't want to rush into, as you know.
