And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

I'm Here, I'm Here!!!

Well, kind of.

Thanks for all the love, all, you really made my day.

Unfortunately, not only is the router all messed up, but my 'puter is (evidently)infected with the electronic version of the Black Death. Mr. Barefoot worked on it last night and again this morning with no luck. I think he plans to take another shot at it while I take my nap later tonight, but I am not sure.

The up side is I get to use his fancy new laptop to check in with you all. I have to say this thing is pretty nice. Much faster than my dino-puter. However, it is not my old friend, and that makes it a little odd.

The down side (yes, there is another one) is that this thing is not hooked up to my printer, and I have the links to many of your blogs only on my other 'puter. I am gonna kick some major butt if we can't get that thing detoxed.

I did try to go 'net-less today out of loyalty my 'puter, but with Little Sprout making it completely impossible to accomplish anything, much less take a nap, I just GOTTA be online!

Tomorrow after work I will be heading down to the Minneapolis Convention Center for the Home and Garden Show. I am so excited. Not only will I be doing something fun as an adult (without the kids, hallelujah), but I get to go with a friend! A real, honest to goodness, female-type, adult friend. Not someone that I get paid to hang out with, not even the beloved Mr. Barefoot. We aren't related in any way, shape or form. It is going to be so cool!!! Even if the actual show is dull (which I don't expect it to be), I will be out and about all by myself with no curfew. MIL is coming over to sit with Little Sprout and to wait for Big Sprout to come home from school, and Mr. Barefoot gets home fairly early on Fridays, so if she decides she doesn't want to wait for me she doesn't have to. I can hardly wait.

Big Sprout's birthday parties are this weekend. I know I am terribly late with them, but it is so hard to find weekend days when I don't work. I feel so guilty about it. I am not so good at planning these things, anyway and it seems that I never get them done on time. Poor Sprout's, with me as their Mom.

I have been trying to straighten up the apartment, but I can't seem to get "in the groove". I keep getting distracted by little things (like alphabetizing all my books and cleaning out cupboards). I suppose my grandparents will just have to see that I would rather be online with all of you than doing housework.

I did manage to get 6 loads of laundry done, though. That counts for something, yes? And my books are in order, which soothes my mind even if noone else cares.

Well, that is my update. I am off to see what you all have been up to!!

Oh cr*p! Do you think it all went to bupkus because of all the cheesecake I've been stuffing in your router?!? I was trying to make you feel better and now I've gone and killed your 'puter!

Please fix your computer (or better yet, get Mr. Barefoot to get you a new one!) soon. I check your blog many times during the day to see what's new!

And besides, otherwise I'll have to eat all the cheesecake by myself!!

You are so sweet, darlin! What a way to make me feel good.

I sure hope it wasn't the cheesecake, cuz it was WAY tasty!

Oh Barefoot, I hope your computer gets fixed soon. Sometimes I hate that I've become so dependent on it....I know I would hate to give it up now....mainly because I would lose touch with all of my blogging friends.
Have fun at the Home & Garden Show! I hope you get some inspiring ideas.

I was in love with my desk top computer, like an old friend or a pair of comfortable shoes.

I very reluctantly got a laptop and after a brief courtship fell absolutely in love with it. Perhaps it's time for you to take the plunge.

As for the printer...all you need is a USB connector which will connect your laptop to the printer. As you know, your regular printer connection won't work, but a USB connector will do the trick.

Enjoy the weekend and stop feeling guilty. Those sprouts are pretty lucky little girls.

If having your books in order frees up your mind to work on other things, then there is value in that.

Sorry about the computer. What spyware and virus watcher are you going use now?

Well, it appears that my 'puter has died. We are hoping to retrieve some files from the corpse, but the outlook is not good. I agree with you about our dependence on 'puters. It seems so wrong, but no matter how hard I try I can't seem to keep away.

That is exactly the way I feel about my desktop! Like you, now that I have been using Mr. Barefoot's laptop I am liking it. I even mentioned that I might not mind getting one of my own.

And thank you for the compliment. It is always nice to hear that there is hope for my Sprouts. :)

Oh, I love having my books in order. However, when time is limited one should prioritize things a little bit better.

I have no idea what kind of protection software we will use after we get this mess cleaned up. I usually leave that kind of thing up to Mr. Barefoot, but it appears I will have to do some research and take steps to make sure that this doesn't happen ever again.

I'm so sorry about the computer.

Have a great weekend and try and get some time for yourself to relax.

Hope you get this mess straightened out! I've been looking at buying a laptop for myself, just so I would be guaranteed computer time, and because I want to do some simple music recording projects. Maybe when my "economic stimulus" check comes.

Dang.... I'm sorry to hear that your computer has decided to kick it. That sucks! I hope your hubby can perform a miracle & provide you with a link to us again.

Best of luck with the cleaning, and the birthday parties this weekend. Got a chuckle about your getting sidetracked with the cleaning..... I went to put divide up some ground beef today, then remembered that I still had crafting goodies on my bed to put away (hide) before DH got home, and got sidetracked into reorganizing my sewing basket & tins, and putting all my other stuff away before I remembered the ground beef. *grin*

Anyway, I hope the parties are great fun, as well as the Home & Garden Show. Have fun dreaming about spring & summer plans with your friend!!!
