And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

A Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

I have been ill. Terribly ill. The kind of ill where the cool tile of the bathroom floor is heavenly and the bath mat seems the perfect place to take a nap. The kind of ill that makes you wonder if maybe death isn't preferable.

I blame my children and my husband, as they all had it before me and the germs had the opportunity to morph into a super-virus before I succumbed. I was so sick I actually wanted to drink water (and for a hard-core soda lover, that is saying a lot).

I begged Mr. Barefoot to stay home from work. He didn't. He called his mom, and she did come over after a while.

The Sprouts haven't seen me at all today.

I got to talk to my Mommy, and that made me feel a little better (yup, I am just a kid at heart).

And now I am tired.

Good Night.

I am so sorry you are STILL sick! There seems to be no choice now but to send you to a tropical, childless island to lie in the sun and drink fruity drinks. Someone needs to prepare food and clean up after it, do the laundry and make sure you have clean crisp sheets.

That is my prescription and I have an official medical degree that I printed off of a very serious looking website to back it up!

Dr. Lisa-
I bow to your expertise. The next communication you receive from me will be written from a warm location where I have my feet up. Since you did not put a limit on how long this treatment will take to do some good, I have made my reservation for 2 months. If you don't think this is long enough, please let me know so that I can extend my planned stay.

I would plan to stay until you are able to breath in without the need to breath out again. Only sure way to make certain that you aren't still ill. Of course, you will be dead, but hey! What a way to go!!

Oh I hope this isn't a sign. I have been so healthy but everyone around me is sick. I must be next. I hate that sick lay on the floor feeling. I hope you feel better.

Oh Barefoot, I hope you feel better soon. This same crap was going around at work between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've been able to avoid it....so far!

Thanks, all.

I am doing much better now, though not quite 100% yet.

I hope this doesn't mean I have to give up on my tropical vacation!
