I have just recently introduced the Sprouts to the joys of Fraggle Rock. For those of you who missed out on this fabulous kids program (poor you), it is a Jim Henson (the Muppets) show. It centers around "Fraggles", who are colorful characters who live in the tunnels within and below (surprise, surprise) Fraggle Rock. With the Fraggles live "Doozers". They are smallish people who seem to have an obsession with architecture. They are constantly building towers and bridges of some clear material that the Fraggles actually eat. At one end of the tunnels is the entrance to "outer space", where a bumbling tinkerer and his dog keep their workshop. At the other end of the tunnels is the exit that leads to the garden of the "Gorgs". Gorgs are giants who want to capture Fraggles and make them slaves. Luckily the Gorgs aren't too bright, so the Fraggles generally have no trouble escaping their traps.
Fraggle Rock is full of fun songs and cute stories. I remember loving it when I was younger, and am so glad that the Sprouts seem to like it, too.
Here is the opening bit, for those of you are fans who are now jonesing as well as those of you who have no idea what I am talking about.

Ohhhhh! I LOVE Fraggle Rock!! I used to atch that show all the time and as so disappointed when it went off the air. I saw the shows on DVD and have every intention of introducing my girls to Fraggle Rock!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!! xo

Ooooh, I LOVED Fraggle Rock!!! Unfortunately, it involved too much "magic" for my dad, so he wouldn't let us watch it. By the time we started going to a less strict church (less concerned over what we were watching on TV, more concerned over ACTUAL behavior), I was in 5th grade and Fraggle Rock wasn't on TV any more. (Though, the fact that our new church wasn't quite so nosy or pushy about what shows we were watching on TV, this didn't keep my dad from "outlawing" _Tailspin_ because he thought they were saying "Talisman", not "Tailspin". *sigh*)
Glad you've got the kiddos hooked on something you can stand to watch too!!! *grin* DD's best friend just got DD hooked on "I Love Lucy", which I personally don't enjoy, but I've got no problem if DD wants to enjoy it.

See, my folks were the exact opposite. My dad had me watching "Wizards" and "The Flight of Dragons" at a very early age. He let me read his copy of "The Hobbit" and the "The Lord of the Rings" trillogy when I was in 4th or 5th grade. Some of my first books were Serendipity books, which are all about unicorns and dragons and flying horses.
Isn't it strange how two people from such different backgrounds could end up having so much in common?
I can't believe I'm about to admit this, but I loved Fraggle Rock!! Actually, there are quite a few kids' shows that I've at least found myself humming the tunes to while my kids are...well, while they're outside doing nothing remotely like watching the shows on tv.
Oh I remember that show. It was one of the few shows I was allowed to watch as a kid...down at Fraggle Rock [clap clap]!! tee hee :)
oh and I've been gone for a few days, so I'm just now catching up, but DO feel better soon!
