And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

I am SO going to do this!

We all know that plastic bags are bad for the environment. Sometimes, though, I forget my good canvas bags at home, or they are full of my projects. I tend to use my bags to store craft projects, because it is so much easier to bring them along with me wherever I go.

I end up with piles of plastic bags lying around that I try to recycle or re-use.

Today, I was lurking over at Craftster.org, and I saw these awesome bags!

What a great way to use up those bags I have lying around AND I can make enough to keep some in my van at all times so that I never forget to bring my own bag again!

I like this idea. I have been quite good at taking my bags with me so I haven't any plastic bags but I thought I could use plastic food packaging, raisons, nuts, seeds etc all come in plastic bags - might take a while to collect enough though!

Holy cow! That is wicked cool! If you make some, take pics. I want to see how they come out. What a fantastic idea. I reuse my plastic bags for the bathroom trash cans. Mostly I ask for paper bags, and I keep several canvas ones in the trunk. Remembering to take them into the store.. well, that's another story. LOL

Willow-
I am not sure if the food packaging idea would work. Everything I have read says that the bags shrink quite a bit whey they get hot. It would be interesting to see if it works, though!:-)

Mysti-
Of course I will take pics! If I actually get this done and it works, I will be so proud I will probably bust my buttons. ;)

I use the bags in the trash, too, but often I end up with many more bags than I could ever use. I am so hoping that this works!

Hey BG, that bag gives me another idea....
You're probably too young to remember, but back in the late 60's and early 70's, people used to cut plastic bread bags into strips and crochet them into rugs.
Now I'm going to try an experiment with cutting some plastic shopping bags into strips and see if I can crochet them into another bag. I'll keep you posted on this project.

You know, Ruthie, I had been wondering about that. I have seen something kind of like that somewhere, and was wondering how it would work. I look forward to hearing about how it goes for you!
