And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

I have officially graduated.

Yup, up until now I held the distinguished title of Evil Step-Mother. I was given this illustrious title by my step-teens about 4 years ago.

Now, I have been given a new title:

Evil Mom.

Yup, Big Sprout has finally decided that I am the cruelest, most evil mom in the world, and isn't shy about telling me how miserable I make her.

Even Little Sprout is getting in on the action. She is cutting teeth, and since I can't make it all better all the time, I am getting screamed at quite a bit. Oh, and there is the pesky bit about I won't let her play with electrical outlets, knives, firearms, etc. Obviously I am the devil incarnate.

It's nice that all the hard work I do is recognized.

*snort* You too, huh???? My kiddo's alternately whimpering & screaming about how mean the hubby and I are to her. All because we want her to do such demeaning tasks as cleaning her room & washing her clothes. *rolling eyes* Ooop, and she just muttered how miserable we make her life. ("oooooh, I HATE my life!!!!" "I HATE living here....") Yep. We're mean.

Of course, the ultimate is to find creative punishments when they really do deserve it. I recall a great "mean mom" lesson a former coworker gave me. DD and I were supposed to go out to supper, but thanks to a bad attutude, I wasn't taking her anywhere, and she was quite pleased with the fact that I was now going to miss out on dinner out just as she was. My coworker told me to order my supper from the resteraunt & have it delivered, and place a PB&J in front of the kiddo for dinner. Ooooooh, now THAT was a good one! And since I'd already told her she wasn't going to get oriental for supper, but a PB&J, I could stick to my word & still get MY dinner. *grin*

(((((HUGS))))) Supposedly "this too shall pass".

em- Thank you. I am debating between getting a crown or just a humble badge. I figure since I hold multiple titles, there should be some outward sign of my greatness. *giggle*

Kati- OOOOHHHH, good one! That is going in the file of cruel things to do to my kid when she is being a pain.

As far as "this to shall pass", I can tell you from experience that the teen years are WAY worse. I am so glad that DH had older kids that put us through hell, because I figure I can handle just about anything that the Sprouts can dish up now. Not that I am looking forward to it. *smile*

My 5 year old's favorite phrase seems to be "Mom! You ruined my day!" :)

I am constantly being reminded by my six year old that I am the worst mother in the entire world and also that I have ruined his life.

It always seems to pass and then come round again. I'm glad he also tells me I'm the best sometimes. Takes the sting out.
