Halloween Trouble

Conversation between Big Sprout and myself yesterday:

ME: Say, I was wondering...what do you think you want to be for Halloween this year?

Sprout: Uhhh...

ME: Cuz we really should start shopping for stuff.

Sprout: Ummmmm...

ME: How about a Gypsy? or a Princess? You could wear that cool crown thing HU made for you...

Sprout: Yeah....NO.

ME: OK, let's see...there's always a pirate, or a vampire, or....

Sprout: I don't think so.

ME: Well, I bookmarked some costume websites, why don't we look through and see what you like?

Sprout: (jumping up and down) Yayayayayay!

Hey mom, look at this one!

ME: Why that is cool, do you want to do something like that?

Sprout: Ummm, no......Hey, look at this!

ME: I see, that is pretty. Would you like to do that one?

Sprout: Ahhh, I don't think so.

45 min later

ME: Did you find ANYTHING you liked?

Sprout: Oh, yeah. I liked a lot of them.

ME: So which one do you want to be?

Sprout: I dunno.

ME: Well, do you want to be something scary or something sweet?

Sprout: I dunno.

ME: Do you want to dress up for Halloween or what?!

Sprout: Well, yeeaahh.

ME: Then you need to start thinking about a costume!

Sprout: FINE! (goes to room and slams door)

Today, after school...

Sprout: So, what costume did you get me? Nothing? But mom...YOU PROMISED!!!!!

Grief!!!! What goes on in those heads of theirs????? *shaking head in wonderment* Seriously wonder how our lives would be if their thought processes ACTUALLY MADE SENSE!

I suppose it's ok that you like mushrooms. After all, we've ALL got our oddities. ;p

sister, mom and dad may agree with this, but i'm pretty confident that I remember the two of us having the same convo's with them. Remember my attempts at ordering food when we used to go to the creamery? what do you want? I don't know, i'm not hungry...fine then...(food arrives) wait i'm remember how that all went.

now for the educated response...

its transescent development, i think we spoke about it on friday at lunch...their brains don't work right for the next 4 or 5 years!!!
